Day 01 Arrival at Delhi
You will be received at Indira Gandhi International Airport at New
Delhi and then transferred to the hotel at overnight stay.
Day 02 Delhi
This day is reserved for the sightseeing tour of Delhi including Red
Fort, Jama Masjid, a rickshaw ride in the 400 years old market of
Chandni Chowk and Raj Ghat in Old Delhi and Birla Temple, Parliament
House, Presidential House, India Gate, Government buildings and Qutab
Minar in New Delhi. Enjoy Mughlai cuisine in the dinner and see the
Indian cultural dance performances in the evening. Overnight stay at the
hotel.
Day 03 Mandawa
After breakfast, drive to Mandawa in the Shekhawati region. Check in at
the hotel for overnight stay. Visit the 150 to 200 year old carved and
painted Havelis and see their beautiful frescoes done in natural colors.
Day 04 Bikaner
Drive to Bikaner and check in at the hotel for overnight stay. Visit
the world-famous Camel Breeding Farms, where you can ride the camels and
taste their milk. In the afternoon, visit the Junagarh Fort, Lalgarh
Palace and the Fort Museum. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 05 Khimsar
After breakfast, drive to Khimsar, visiting the 600-years-old Deshnok
Rat Temple enroute. The temple is a wonder because it is considered that
the rats here are actually the devotees of the Goddess and so live here
as pets. Check in at the hotel at Khimsar on arrival for overnight stay.
Khimsar was the village found by Lord Mahavira and houses a 15th century
Khimsar Fort. Go on a camel safari to nearby villages and catch some
good snaps of sunset views of Thar Desert.
Day 06 Ossian/Jaisalmer
In the morning, drive to Jaisalmer visiting the 7th century Mahavira
Jain Temple and 2000 years old Jija Mata Temple at Ossian village
enroute. Check in at the hotel at Jaisalmer for overnight stay.
Day 07 Jaisalmer
Visit the lived-in Jaisalmer Fort built in yellow sandstone and 12th to
15th century Jain Temples. In the evening, embark on a camel safari to
Badabagh or Royal Cenotaphs. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 08 Jaisalmer
Ride the camel to the famous Havelis that are virtually art museums in
themselves. The most famous of these Havelis are Patwon Ki Haveli, Nath
Ji Mal Ki Haveli and Salim Singh Ki Haveli. The intricately carved
mansions with their latticed windows and arched balconies are a delight
to the sore eyes. Cruise on a boat in the Gadisar Lake in the evening.
Day 09 Jaisalmer
After breakfast, explore Manak Chowk, the main shopping area of
Jaisalmer and see the unexplored Havelis of Jaisalmer with their
intricate carvings, temples, herds of cattles and natives dressed in
their colorful traditional attires. You can buy tie and dyed textiles,
silver jewelry, handicrafts and puppets from Jaisalmer. Spend the
evening at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 10 Jaisalmer/Sam Sand Dunes
In the morning, visit the gracegully carved Jain Temples in Sonar Quila
and the palace within its premises that houses a royal museum of the
erstwhile rulers of Jaisalmer. After lunch, go on an excursion to San
Sand Dunes and enjoy the sunset views and mirage there. Start the camel
safari from the nearby Khuri Village, which is a typical village of
Rajasthan and see the desert in its true form. Overnight stay at the
tented accommodations and folk performances by the local artists and
musicians are other delights scheduled for this day.
Day 11 Jaisalmer Desert Festival
In the morning, go in a camel safari to a typical village of Rajasthan,
where you will enjoy the traditional cuisine comprising of Dal, Baati
and Churma. Visit the desert festival and you may even dance with the
natives there that sing and dance to the tunes of local ballads of valor
and romance.
Day 12 Jaisalmer Desert Festival
Participate in the famous Desert Festival of the amber-hued city of
Jaisalmer. Some of the delights of the festival are snake charmers,
puppeteers, acrobats and folk performers but the center of attraction is
of course the Ship of the Desert, Camel. There are many unique events
for camels that are held here such as camel dances, camel races, camel
polo and the camel beauty contests, where the best bedecked camel wins.
There are tourist dances, the turban tying and Mr. Desert contest, where
the man with the longest moustache wins. Overnight stay in tented
accommodation, where there will be a bonfire party along with folk song
and dance performances.
Day 13 Wood Fossil Park
After breakfast, visit the famous Wood Fossil Park that is
archeologist's delight. It has some wonderful specimens of the times
when Thar desert was submerged in the sea including the fossil that is
180 million years old! Savor the typical Rajasthani Thali in lunch at
Jaisalmer and spend the afternoon at leisure. Overnight stay at the
hotel.
Day 14 Jodhpur
After breakfast, drive to Jodhpur and check in to the hotel. Embark on
a camel safari to the desert villages of Rajasthan. Cover the Bishnoi
villages and see Raika herdsmen, lakes providing a sanctuary to birds,
wildlife sanctuaries and the trades of potters, weavers and leather
craftsmen. Interact with the warm, simple-hearted and friendly natives
that will love to talk to you, if you offer them sweets. Overnight stay
at the hotel.
Day 15 Jodhpur
In the morning, embark on a guided sightseeing tour to Mehrangarh Fort;
Umaid Bhawan Palace, which still serves as the erstwhile rulers of
Jodhpur in part, while the rest of it is used as a heritage hotel and
museum; and white marble Jaswant Thada that houses royal portraits.
Spend the evening at leisure and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 16 Jaipur
In the morning, drive to Jaipur and check in at the hotel. Go for a
sightseeing tour of the Pink City. The highlights of the day will be
Jantar Mantar, the City Palace Museum, Hawa Mahal and an elephant ride
to Amer Fort with its several palaces and courtyards. Spend the evening
at leisure or go for shopping in the colorful markets of Jaipur. Enjoy
the fabulous dinner with typical Rajasthani cuisine. Overnight stay at
the hotel.
Day 17 Delhi
Drive back to Delhi in the morning, where you will check in at the
hotel. Spend the day at leisure or go for shopping. You will receive a
farewell dinner at the hotel and then you will be escorted to the
international airport, from where you can catch your flight to onward
destination.
